How to ensure the safety of agricultural drones?

With the development of agricultural science and technology, agricultural drones are increasingly used in flight defense operations. During plant protection, no matter whether the ground and vegetation are ups and downs, we all hope that the drone will fly at a fixed height above the crop, which is also called ground imitation flight. With the help of the ground-imitation flight function, the agriculture spray drone price can adapt to different terrains, automatically generate a heightened route according to the terrain of the survey area, and keep the ground resolution consistent to obtain better data effects.

There are many solutions for this application, such as ultrasonic, laser, infrared, binocular and so on. However, due to the large amount of dust and water mist in most plant protection environments, both ultrasonic and optical-based obstacle avoidance schemes will be greatly disturbed.

Millimeter-wave radar does not have these problems. Because the wavelength of millimeter-wave is very short and close to the propagation characteristics of light, it can also reflect better for smaller objects, and has stronger obstacle avoidance ability. At the same time, millimeter waves have better penetration of smoke and dust, and are less affected by weather. These characteristics determine that the millimeter-wave radar has the ability to avoid obstacles all day and all weather.

To increase safety for flight defense operations, Huida engineers added a front-mounted binocular vision camera and a rear-mounted FPV camera based on the millimeter-wave radar.

The binocular vision camera solves the problem of how the drone "sees", which is equivalent to our eyes: the reason why we can accurately pick up the cup in front of us and judge the distance of the car is because of the binocular stereo vision of the eyes.

The radar data combined with the front binocular vision camera and the FPV camera can effectively measure the distance and perceive the flight height, surround perception, accurately locate and identify obstacles, and can also skillfully avoid obstacles for small objects. Regardless of whether it is a large field or a mountain forest, the flight control operation can realize intelligent planning of routes, stay away from danger, and fly with peace of mind.
