Can drones be used to spray crops?

Fruit tree application

In order to be well applied in fruit tree area, hybrid drone agriculture should achieve the following performance indexes:

(1) Realize automatic imitation of the ground, that is, it can fly at a fixed relative altitude in steep mountains;

(2) Achieve good coverage of fog droplets, and the open space shall be free from spraying;

(3) Avoid damage to fruit trees and fruits caused by excessive concentration of liquid medicine or strong wind field.

Seeding application

Drones in farming and agriculture spreader is widely used in rice, wheat, rape, grass seeds and so on. But the most typical application is the planting process of rice. In terms of the whole planting process, the links covered include base fertilizer sowing, seed sowing, topdressing sowing, insecticidal sterilization and weeding, which completely covers all the work from paddy field turning to harvest, and has become an indispensable and efficient production tool for rice planting.

Spraying system

At present, the common atomization methods include centrifugal spraying system and pressure spraying system (hydraulic atomization). The pressure spraying system belongs to the conventional atomization mode, which has the advantages of low cost, long service life and slightly strong penetration ability. It is the main atomization mode of ground plant protection machinery, but it also has the characteristics of wide atomization particle size spectrum, weak powder adaptability, correlation between particle size and flow, etc. The centrifugal spraying system has the characteristics of decoupling between particle size regulation and flow, large flow and stronger powder adaptability. It has more advantages in fruit trees, high-dose powder operation and large flow scenes. However, the centrifugal nozzle is thrown around, the penetration of droplets is slightly weak, the drift is stronger, and its cost is also higher than that of the pressure spraying system.

Positioning technology

The most common way of positioning is GNSS satellite positioning, with positioning accuracy of meter level, effective global coverage and simple and easy to use. The positioning difference calculation based on GNSS technology is RTK high-precision positioning technology, which can achieve centimeter positioning accuracy. It is also the premise of accurate mapping and spraying of fruit trees, which can bring high precision to the operation of RTK.

At present, RTK is mainly deployed in two ways, including mobile RTK base station and network RTK. The mobile base station needs to purchase another RTK base station and needs to be laid in advance, but it can be used well whether there is local network coverage or not. Network RTK is to build a fixed RTK base station in advance and communicate with drones for smart agriculture through network communication signal. UAV can obtain high-precision positioning through networking. The disadvantage of Network RTK is that once there is no local base station coverage or network communication signal coverage, it cannot be used normally.
